Eraserheads Reunion Concert Was Stopped

As I was watching the late night news on tv on August 30, 2008, the news flash about the Eraserheads concert caught my attention. It was stopped because thei vocalist, Ely Buendia, was rushed to the hospital. It was during their 20-min break after performing a total of 15 songs that Buendia felt a chest pain. Buendia has already suffered a heart attack on January 7, 2007 and had undergone surgery.

How I wished I could watch the Eraserhead's Reunion Concert. Who wouldn't want to? Dubbed as the country's The Beatles, Eraserhead's reunion concert was highly anticipated by many people. An estimated 40,000 people went to their concert at The Fort Bonifacio open field in Taguig City. Eraserheads was disbanded in 2002. Since then, each has formed their own bands. People have been hoping for the band to reform but it seemed impossible. But the news about the band's reunion concert has somehow liven up most of the Filipinos. They were the epitome of Pinoy Rock n' Roll. Their style is just so distinct that no one can duplicate.

Here are some words from The Eraserheads drummer/Sandwich Vocalist, Raimund Marasigan, posted from Subsandwich mailing list:

Before anything. I just spoke to Day Cabuhat and she informed me that Ely’s condition is now stable and they’re very thankful for all your concern.

Thank you very much for coming t the show. We really felt the cheering and the singing and the love you all gave.

Thank you for understanding that the show had to be cut short.

Ely was in no condition (emotionally, physically) to play but he did. And he gave it his all which is more than we could ask from him. Given the circumstances he was in.

We all wish him well. We are all confident that he will recover soon.

I promise to give you another Eraserheads show as soon as possible.

Again thank you very much

Does that mean a repeat concert?Whew! How I wish to come. But can we still risk Ely's health? The fans who attended their concert could have felt disappointed but surely they understand the incident and are more concerned of Ely Buendia's health. As of now, it has been reported that Buendia's condition is now stable.

Let's keep praying guys.
